Therapist Overview
Depression, anxiety, grief, and other mental health issues pose complex challenges. As they get bigger, our lives get smaller; making even routine tasks and interactions more difficult. We may feel frustrated, confused, or ashamed, which add to the emotional weight we are already carrying. Friends and loved ones may inadvertently make things worse with well-intentioned advice or attempts to make us feel better. Feeling guilty, embarrassed, or afraid of burdening others (especially if we are usually the “Strong One” or the “helper”) can prevent us from asking for help. The good news is that treatment works and therapy helps! I’ve had the honor of helping countless people in my 15+ years of counseling experience with a variety of evidence-based approaches to depression, anxiety, grief, substance abuse, trauma, and other issues. I especially enjoy using practical and sometimes unconventional tools to take the teeth out of painful self-critical and “catastrophic” negative thoughts. At the heart of my approach to counseling is a deep respect for each person’s unique experience, the significance of their struggles, and the incredible resilience they can develop as they connect with the right tools, strengths and resources to transform their lives and relationships. Please contact me for powerful, compassionate tools to reclaim your life.
