Therapist Overview
Hello, I’m Matt. I’m a trained Marriage and Family Therapist, and I’m currently enrolled in a PhD Program also in Marriage and Family Therapy. Though my expertise is restoring relationships (Couples and Families), the unique way I see problems and how they’re formed/ maintained also applies to individual symptoms such as depression, anxiety, grief or any reoccurring pattern that an individual might feel “stuck” with. We can often feel stuck with unwanted patterns of feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. Systemic thinking looks at all of this very differently and focuses on genuinely freeing clients from these patterns. Problematic behaviors or feelings like depression and anxiety are considered symptoms of an underlying process rather than individual problems. Think of your mental/emotional health like the flu; Your body fights against the flu and you experience the uncomfortable symptoms of fever, body ache and chills. Once rid of the flu, the symptoms go with it. In my career I have been apart of great change, and I feel I have a way of leading others to it. I’m very passionate about what I do, and genuinely believe in putting myself out of job. If you’re interested in a different perspective on problems and how to genuinely alleviate them, feel free to call and we can discuss what arrangements work best for you.
