I am a parent educator/advocate. I am very effective with parents and caretakers who are looking to develop an authentic and effective relationship with their teen or young adult. My ideal client are system involved youth (Juvenile Justice and Social Services) and their caretakers who may have a history of “System” involvement also. I am especially effective with clients who are transitioning or transcending one season of life to another specifically clients who may be reintegrating to society on the road to fully functioning and productive citizens. I have three decades of experience working with “at risk” youth, parents, and system involved people. I am especially gifted at developing rapport with resistant clients. I understand the Criminal Justice System and its impact. I developed and utilize a four-step intervention for people who are transitioning from one season of life to another. I believe that “people do the best they can at any given time with the resources they have.” This quote is the foundation for my book “Keeping Kids in the Home and out of the System.” The goal of counseling is to meet the person where they are to increase their emotional resources. My role in therapy is to facilitate growth in areas defined by the client.
