My name is Dr. Hoffmann and I am a neuropsychologist. I assess children (age 5 and up), adolescents and adults. A neuropsychological evaluation is an assessment of how one’s brain is functioning in different areas, such as memory and attention, etc., in comparison to peers of a similar age (and similar education when available). An evaluation is typically warranted when there has been a perceived change in cognitive functioning, often after illness or injury. In the case of children, evaluations are often sought when they are not meeting grade standards, when they are having difficulty with attention and focus, and/or when there has been a sudden decline in academic performance. If you or a loved one have learning and/or attention issues or if you have experienced a head injury (motor vehicle accident, fall, stroke, etc), or have a medical issue that is resulting in cognitive problems, a neuropsychological evaluation can help by identifying your cognitive strengths and weaknesses, as well as provide recommendations for treatment.
