Therapist Overview
Narrative therapy is committed to a relational and contextual view of people and their problems. It explores the social or cultural implications that may be responsible for problems taking control over a person’s life. Narrative therapy seeks alternative avenues for people to stand up to their problems instead of being defined by them. Through skilled therapeutic questioning, rich dialogue flows throughout the therapy conversation, creating space for healing to begin. After each session of therapy, Karen writes a therapeutic letter to her clients. The letter continues the conversation and includes questions for further reflection. Karen’s areas of practice include grief and loss support, anxiety, difficulties with life decisions, sadness or depression, parenting problems, relationship struggles or personal hardships. As a narrative practitioner, Karen takes notes during each session of therapy to be used in the crafting of a therapeutic letter. Every person who comes to Karen for support will be welcomed, respected and their stories heard. It is important to her that all individuals are invited into the therapeutic process regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, race, culture or religion.
