Therapist Overview
Understanding and overcoming addictions is challenging for both addict and the family-Fear, anxiety, tension and shame can paralyze individuals with indecisiveness and repetitive self-defeating thoughts, attitudes and behaviors. An intervention on addiction and an individualized recovery plan does not have to be the result of a confrontational or shaming approach, and sobriety can mean more than just saving a life. With the appropriate education, guidance and support both addict and family can experience recoveries that are abundant in freedoms, joy, purpose and fulfillment. Having worked as a counselor, detox nurse, program developer/manager, family program facilitator and executive director has added to my education, skills and experience in conducting successful interventions. Services include assessments, case management, individual/family counseling, and monitoring. Having experienced addiction, treatment and recovery firsthand I know how difficult it is to reach out for help-it takes courage to acknowledge things are out of control and that dealing with the problem alone is insufficient-paradoxically the surrender that comes from asking for help is not a sign of defeat but the first step of realizing untold victories
