Therapist Overview
Do you feel an overwhelming connection between you and your companion animal; a bond not easily explained? Have you ever imagined bringing your pet to therapy along side you? Through my years of experience as an animal trainer, and incorporating animals into the therapeutic process, I have witnessed first hand the amazing benefits that an animal interaction can have. Animals promote a sense of calmness and peace, unconditional love, and a better understanding of ourselves. I have been fortunate to witness the awe inspiring moments between animals and humans, that have changed lives and provided true meaning and personal growth. Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) is a complementary type of therapy that involves animals as a form of complementary treatment. I practice Equine Assisted Therapy to improve the overall health and well being, improving a patient’s social, emotional, physiological and cognitive functioning. The goals are unique and individual in nature. I am passionate about helping people utilize their animals and relationships as a part of their recovery. I have extensive experience working with children and adolescents with developmental, emotional or behavioral issues, as well as adults. Often we believe we are the ones who rescue our animals; and in reality they are the ones who rescue us.
