I have had much success with teens and adults struggling with depression, anxiety, and difficulties managing life stress. I use a CBT approach combined with Holistic interventions such as using diet, nutrition, exercise, mindfulness, and relaxation. I provide psycho-education regarding the physiology of stress and the mind/body continuum. Much focus is given to self regulation and staying focused/ goal directed as a way of achieving happiness and self fulfillment. There is a great deal of focus on self-acceptance and “How to be happy even though life will never be perfect.” My CBT approach is through Rational Emotive Therapy. In this technique we learn to dispute irrational, unproductive beliefs/self-talk and replace them with beliefs/self talk that makes sense. This includes challenging the “evils” of perfectionism and self-criticism. Accepting ourselves as imperfect humans can often relieve a great deal of stress and anxiety.
