Therapist Overview
Familiar does not always mean functional. Too often we hold tight to our ways of being and ways of doing even though they no longer serve us, even if they harm us. In counseling, it is ok to let go of the familiar to obtain the functional. Letting go isn’t easy, and rarely is it comfortable. As a counselor, I aim to be with you in that discomfort and offer guidance in the process of letting go. Do you ever feel like you are reliving the same script but with a different cast? Often, we play out the same dynamics across relationships without noticing how the same conflicts and chaos show up time and time again. I enjoy working with clients to recognize these patterns and collaborate towards striking a balance between empathy and boundaries. I tend to work with adolescents and emerging adults (ages 13 to 26), although I am always open to working with clients outside this range. My approach to counseling marries the importance of the relationships with others and the relationship with ourselves. I look forward to creating a relationship with you where we can find the new familiar together.
