Being a teenager is harder than ever. The demands of school, friends, parents, sports, and social media are all vying for attention. In addition to all those responsibilities, adolescents are also going through the necessary and difficult process of figuring how who they are. They are setting the direction for their lives, defining their goals, and developing their identity. This is a daunting task and can bring up a lot of emotions. Parents often see this manifesting itself through anger, depression, anxiety, or high-risk behaviors. Our desire, at Soul and Psyche, is to invite teenagers into a process of empowerment. Through teaching stress management strategies and communication skills, teens can start to feel more in control of their lives. We aim to create a safe place where teens can feel heard and known and receive unbiased feedback… which we believe can be incredibly useful in helping them navigate this difficult period of life. Ultimately, we believe the counseling process will help to foster the connection between teens and their parents… leading to happier teens and healthier families.
