Brainspotting is a newer method of therapy developed by David Grand where trained therapists use “brainspots” to activate specific memories that might carry trauma or emotional pain.
During a session of Brainspotting, your therapist uses a pointer to guide your eyes around your field of vision, stopping in spots that might allow your brain to connect to traumatic memories or incidents that bring emotional distress. These connections allow you and your therapist to work more fully through these incidents or memories.
Brainspotting is relatively flexible, meaning your therapist can adapt the experience to your individual needs.
Since it is a relatively newer form of therapy, there isn’t much literature supporting the ability for therapeutic change through Brainspotting. Although, some studies show it can affect Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and other forms of trauma.
I have created A Space to Breathe to provide a calm and safe environment for healing and growth. My greatest joy is getting to know you and building the therapeutic relationship. No matter how recent or old the trauma, how deep the wounds, how complex life has...
We ask a lot of our mind and body. Busy schedules, intimacy issues, anxiety, depression, trauma, chronic pain - not to mention troubles at work, relationship conflict or the search for a relationship, aging parents and/or children - and well, life can feel even more challenging. These compounding stressors impact our ability to connect with ourselves and with others, as well as our ability to l...
Anxiety, stress, anger, conflict, and depression can impact our sleep, productivity at work or school, and relationship with our loved ones. It can feel overwhelming or isolating trying to deal and cope with these emotions. It is during these times that outside help may be beneficial to help us overcome these challenges and work towards regaining our optimal emotional health. I use a strength...
Suffering happens in isolation. The power of human connection and telling your story can be very healing. I believe we are all incredibly resilient at our cores, though this can be overshadowed and challenged by expected and unexpected change, difficult events & trauma, and the subsequent wading & struggling through transition that inevitably follows. I can help you work through the hard parts....
I’m currently not taking new clients. During times of change, transition, stressful events or due to our limiting beliefs, we may seek guidance to become more flexible, expansive and self- aware. Transitions may include retirement, developing a second act in life, empty nest, aging, grief and loss of a loved one or pet, divorce or trauma. I draw from the ancient wisdom of Yoga, Ayurveda and my...

You’ve had it. This world isn’t what it advertises itself to be. And you are just one “Don’t worry, it’ll get better” or “I'm praying for you” away from telling the well-meaning advice givers to stick it where the sun doesn’t shine. If only they knew how many times you fought the urge to silence this pain for good just in the past 24 hours. Your mind’s playlist is a spiral of piercing rage. You...

“I’m fine,” you say with a smile as you push away the pain just under the surface. To others, you seem to have it all together when really, you're constantly over-thinking, over-analyzing, what-if-ing, and should-having. Wondering, “Did I say that right? I never know the right thing. I should have…” You’re a pro at turning any situation into a worst-case scenario. Guilt? Yep. You're no stranger...
