Developmental disorders describe a wide range of conditions such as learning disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, intellectual disabilities, and Cerebral Palsy. Often diagnosed in children, many counseling interventions can help with developmental disorders. Occupational, speech, and language therapies and motor skills training can be helpful for children with these concerns.

Available Treatment Options

Counseling interventions often include the parents or entire family to work on integrating activities, skills, and techniques that work to help the child function more efficiently. Parents may require more intensive counseling to deal with the potential difficulties of raising a differently-abled child.

A broad approach with many options is best for children diagnosed with a developmental disorder so the therapist and family can develop a treatment plan that works best for the individual child.
