Depression is persistent feelings of sadness and emptiness, a lack of motivation, crying, changes in eating or sleeping, disinterested in the things you once enjoyed and potentially self-harming behaviors or thoughts of suicide. Many counseling interventions effectively treat depression, including behavioral, cognitive, interpersonal, psychodynamic, and mindfulness interventions.
