Therapist Overview
I help parents who are struggling with challenges with their young child (0-6 years) around any number of issues, including: sleep, feeding, potty learning, cooperation, getting through daily routines, discipline, challenges functioning in a group setting, developing positive peer relationships, learning to develop self-regulation, and managing sibling rivalry. I help parents understand what makes their child tick and how to meet their needs, especially when it comes to how to discipline using positive, not punitive approaches. My approach is collaborative–guiding parents in doing the detective work of decoding the meaning of their childrenās behavior to understand the root cause of the challenge and implement strategies that best meet the needs of their individual child. As part of this process, I offer home and school visits to provide direct coaching to parents and teachers. Parenting a young child can be incredibly joyful but also stressful. Young children are driven by emotion, not logic, which means a lot of their behavior is irrational. I help parents respond to their children in ways that are most loving and effective, and that can reduce a lot of frustration. I help parents be the parent they want to be.
