Often, the beliefs we carry about ourselves don’t originate with us, or it can be hard to locate the source of our emotions. Maybe certain thoughts and memories seem like they are more than you can handle; or perhaps you are well aware of patterns you would like to change but don’t know where to start. When we are in the thick of things, we are too close to see clearly. What therapy offers is another set of eyes, an aerial view that enables you to observe our own life more objectively. Part of my job is to help you hold what feels like “too much”, remind you of your own strength, and to figure out a path forward together. For the past several years I have worked with survivors of domestic violence in tandem with a local agency. Many struggle with anxiety, depression, negative self-talk, or deal with recurring symptoms of PTSD. I have supported clients in increasing self-compassion and acceptance. Together, we have focused on exploring and creating their vision for their life. Each of us has an innate ability to heal from old wounds and to integrate them into a greater whole. Just as seemingly imperfect threads are woven together, the difficulties we work through and overcome become part of our extraordinary journey. My desire is to help you accept and embrace the richness of your fabric.
