Therapist Overview

Many clients I see come in after suffering significantly from riding the highs and lows of intense emotional ups and downs and are in search of learning new coping skills, or strengthening existing ones. Some of these folks suffer from self-harming behaviors, suicidality, addiction, eating disorders, OCD, PTSD, or anxiety and depression. The common thread among them, however, is the desire to not only more skillfully regulate their emotions, but to ultimately build a life that they want to live, not just one that they simply are trying to endure. This work can be challenging and takes a lot of courage on behalf of the client. That is why I strive to maintain a calm, focused, and nonjudgmental environment, as we explore what drives their thoughts and behaviors, as well as how to move forward. My therapeutic approach balances warmth and compassion, with solution-focused DBT interventions. Clients learn to become increasingly aware of automatic thought patterns that increase their suffering and learn to not judge the thoughts themselves. They replace old, problematic, self-destructive behaviors with new, more adaptive coping skills. I have witnessed transformative outcomes from DBT and would be honored to guide you in your process of healing.
