Are You Struggling With Men's Issues?

Home » Areas of Specialty » Men's Issues

Growing up as a man in society brings unique gender, gender norms, and gender expression problems. Western culture brings with it sometimes unhelpful messages about masculinity: that men must be tough, not show emotions, enact violence, and gain power and status. Men are less likely to seek out mental health therapists than other genders. Men must recognize seeking treatment for mental health concerns doesn’t make them less masculine or manly. It implies that they acknowledge that their health is vital.

Available Treatment Options

Counselors can help men work through the hesitancy to talk about mental health within therapy sessions. Some men may benefit from seeing a therapist who also identifies as a man, as the shared knowledge of the impact of their gender can facilitate the healing process.
