Ken Susskind, LICSW

I have worked as a personal counselor since 1986 and as a licensed clinical social worker since 2004. I am a solution-focused therapist who listens deeply to my clients, then engages each in a true two-way conversation. Whether I’m seeing adults, adolescents, or pre-adolescents, I treat my clients respectfully. We focus on the issue at hand, work to understand the history and causes behind it, then together implement steps to bring change quickly. I don’t draw out therapy. Most of my clients see me for six to eight weekly sessions, moving to less and less frequent sessions as their confidence and life satisfaction increases. My specialties include anxiety and depression arising out of relationship issues- whether they be family-of-origin, current nuclear family, or partner/spouse. With 32 years of experience as a personal counselor in public schools, I also specialize in school-based issues, including peer relationships, underperformance, transition anxiety, and bullying. After 32 years of counseling, I continue to appreciate the connection my clients allow me to build with them. That connection allows them to share their truth, to explore their hurts, to reveal their frustrations, to enjoy their triumphs with me. It allows us to laugh together.
