My practice focuses on offering services to adolescents and other individuals. Many people experience barriers to a healthy lifestyle such as anxiety, issues related to their sexuality, and traumatic events. My goal is to help equip the client with the tools to enable them to progress forward. Whether the goal is to improve performance in school, learn to manage anxiety or gain social skills, the focus is on the client's ability to gain the skills necessary to manage themselves. I utilize Person Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Art Therapy, depending on the self identified needs of the specific client. During therapy, family dynamics play an important role, helping both the client and other family members the opportunity to safely discuss issues such as grades, suicidality and accountability. It is not uncommon for young people to resist therapy. My approach is to offer an opportunity to meet, complimentary, and then offer the young person “a deal”, they agree to come to three sessions after which it is their choice to continue. Since therapy is only successful with a young person’s participation, this enables them to make the decision.
