I have worked in the addiction field for 30 years, I specialize in helping people recover from substance abuse and addiction. My primary goal of addiction counseling is to help clients achieve and maintain abstinence from addictive chemicals and behaviors. The secondary goal is to help clients recover from the damage the addiction has done to their life. I believe that addiction counseling works by first helping the client recognize the existence of a problem and the associated irrational thinking. I encouraged clients to achieve and maintain abstinence and then develop the necessary psychosocial skills. My style of counseling is non judgement and supportive. I believe what you think does matter. My office is online. Online counseling can offer very similar conditions and support that you would find with talking to a counselor in person. It allows you to feel safe and to explore your thoughts freely.
