Therapist Overview
If only the image you have perfected projecting were true. Everyone seems to buy it; that you are as calm, confident, and competent as you portray yourself to be. Meanwhile, you walk around feeling like a little girl wearing her mother’s heels. The worst part is always worrying about being “found out” as the fraud that you know yourself to be. It makes it hard to be really emotionally available and honest in your relationships and you always end up feeling so alone. All the success in your professional life just makes you feel like you have that much more to lose when someone really sees what you are desperately trying to hide. You can learn to believe in yourself. You can have deep and fulfilling relationships and let yourself breathe. With a good balance of practical skills to implement for relief now and gently working through the old stuff that set you up to feel this way in the first place, you and I will navigate this shame stuff from inside a safe therapeutic relationship.
