I believe in a balanced approach to emotional, mental, and physical change through the counseling process. I see counseling as a collaborative experience between client and therapist in a safe environment where we work as a team to define present problems, develop future goals for an improved life and work in a systematic fashion toward realizing those goals. I approach counseling from a cognitive-behavioral perspective in that patterns of thoughts and actions are explored in order to better understand the client’s problems and to develop solutions. I focus on clients going through adjustment issues, depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, and addiction/substance use problems. I do individual counseling sessions for adults 18 years and older. In the process of individual counseling, it may be determined that a family or couples’ session or sessions may be recommended as part of the healing process. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from LSU in 2003 and my Master’s degree in Counseling from Southeastern Louisiana University in 2007. I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2010 and have experience working in outpatient, intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization, and residential treatment centers.
